2023-10-12 | Oakland boro starts an official change.org petition

Oakland Materials, LLC is seeking to operate a 'Class B' recycling facility at 342 West Oakland Avenue, a short distance from homes, Potash Lake and the Ramapo River. This facility would process up to 900 tons of concrete, brick, asphalt and topsoil per day. We, the undersigned, oppose Oakland Materials, LLC's application to the BCUA because of quality of life impacts such as noise, dust, odors and truck traffic as well as potential pollution, including groundwater contamination of a sole source aquifer that provides drinking water to Oakland residents. The time to act is now! Oakland Borough change.org petition announcement

2023-09-27 | A BCUA public meeting is held in Oakland

Unfortunately this public meeting was held before most residents were ever aware that any of this was happening. Thank you to those who found out and were able to attend to help voice the frustration that many others now feel but were not given a chance to convey. It was however a great chance for Oakland Materials LLC's lawyers to present an extremely biased, one-sided and inaccurate portrayal of their planned recycling center and of the location they intend to put it.
